Deardorff Asset Management was founded by Austin Deardorff in 2017 in Chicago, IL. Austin has been an active investor and trader since 2015. His engineering background and lack of “formal” financial education has allowed him to explore, learn, analyze, and trade financial markets through a unique lens. His perspective allowed him to share diverse information, investment strategies, market outlooks, and portfolio analysis to many peers which evolved into the creation of DAM in 2017.
As a new investor and trader, Austin quickly became frustrated with the information provided by mainstream financial media. He believes a formal education in finance, currently, is incredibly overvalued since it produces ingrained group-think and does not offer a diverse perspective on investing and markets, which manifests itself perfectly in mainstream financial media. The self-taught financier’s largest (and most outspoken) contrarian opinion is his belief the Federal Reserve has no material, tangible, or otherwise measurable impact on the real economy. This belief, which has been empirically proven across many diverse economies, helped him build his investing, trading, and macroeconomic framework.
Austin leads DAM’s approach to markets through a macroeconomic lens with a positioning strategy driven through technical analysis.
